Getting started

What is Notably?
Notably helps you send truly personal, robotically handwritten cards for birthdays, anniversaries, and the moments that matter. You add the people you care about, we remind you before their big days, and real pen-and-ink cards get mailed on your behalf.
Do I need an account to send a card?
Yes — a free account lets us save your contacts, reminders, and return address so sending the next card takes seconds. Create one here.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. You can use Notably for free — save a payment method on your account and only pay when a card actually mails. Automatic sending works on any plan: every Go-to card auto-sends around your recipient's date, whether you're pay-per-card or on Circle. Circle is optional and adds a monthly allowance of included cards plus a discount on any extras.

Cards & handwriting

Are the cards really handwritten?
Yes — every card is written with a real pen on real cardstock by robotic hands, then sealed, stamped, and mailed. No printed fonts attempting to look handwritten.
Can I pick the handwriting style?
Absolutely. Choose from several handwriting styles during the send flow — you'll see a live preview of your message before you pay.
Can I include a gift card?
Yes, you can add a gift card in a range of denominations during checkout. It's mailed alongside your handwritten note.
Can I preview the card and envelope before sending?
Every send shows a full preview of the card interior and the addressed envelope so you know exactly what your recipient will open.

Reminders & Go-to cards

How do reminders work?
Add a birthday or anniversary to a contact and we'll notify you in advance so you have time to write something meaningful — or let a Go-to card send automatically.
What is a Go-to card?
A Go-to is your pre-approved card, message, and gift-card choice for a specific person and occasion. When their date rolls around, we can send it automatically so you never miss it.
Do I need Circle for automatic sending?
No. Any Go-to card auto-sends around the recipient's date — whether you're pay-per-card or a Circle member. Circle just covers the cost with your monthly allowance and gives you a discount on extras; pay-per-card users are charged the card price using the card they saved on their account when they set up their first Go-to.
How far in advance are auto-sent cards processed?
We queue auto-sends a few weeks before the recipient's date so the card arrives on time. You'll get an email when it's on its way, and you can cancel before it's handed off to print.

Pricing, subscriptions & promos

How much does a card cost?
Pay-per-card pricing is shown in the send flow before you check out. Adding a gift card increases the total by the gift-card amount plus a small fulfillment fee.
What's included with the Circle subscription?
Circle members get included cards each month plus automatic Go-to sending. See the current plan details on the subscription page.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. No long contracts — cancel your subscription any time from your account page and you'll keep access through the end of the billing period.
Do promo codes apply automatically?
Active site promotions are applied automatically at checkout for eligible accounts — no code needed.

Orders, delivery & cancellations

When will my card arrive?
Cards are printed and mailed within a couple of business days of your order, and typically arrive within 3–7 business days via USPS depending on destination.
Can I cancel or edit an order after paying?
Yes — you have a 2-hour window after payment to cancel from your order details page. After that, the card is handed to our print partner and can't be recalled.
What happens if I close the payment window?
No worries — your order is saved in a pending-payment state. Open it from your account page and hit "Pay now" to finish checkout. Your card, message, and gift-card choices are all preserved.
Do I need a return address?
Yes — our handwriting partner requires a return address on every envelope. You'll be prompted to add one before checkout and it's saved to your account for future sends.
How do refunds work?
If you cancel within the 2-hour window we refund the full amount. If something went wrong after that, get in touch and we'll make it right.

Privacy & security

Is my data private?
Your contacts, messages, and addresses are yours. We don't sell your data. See our privacy policy for the full picture.
How is payment handled?
Payments are processed by Stripe. Notably never sees or stores your full card number.
How do I delete my account?
You can permanently delete your account and associated data from the account page at any time.
